Very very disappointed with the iPhone 5C. Actually it is exactly what I expected it to be but Apple messed up big time on the most crucial part - the price.
Wait for it…..$549 for the unlocked 16GB version. That’s absolute bonkers. Americans need not give a damn since they get it with contracts and stuff but all I can think of is the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Chromecast and cool accessories I can get for the price of a colourful iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5C was intended for emerging markets and I doubt if Apple has the faintest idea as to how a contract-less mobile economy works. I was expecting the iPhone 5C to be comparable to the Nexus pricing so then I could decide wether to go for the colourful one or the upcoming Nexus. Seems Apple has made it easy to choose, the Nexus 5 it is (unless they too…)
The iPhone 5S is magnificent though. Not an iterative update in anyway. SLR-level camera and optics, 64-bit processor, Touch ID.
Blown away by how Apple recoded all of iOS 7 to work with the new architecture and how easy they made it seem. The Touch ID stuff is also huge, with the ring adding a nice touch to the look. The camera is a Lumia 1020 killer, as if the iPhone already wasn’t. That said the gold one looks a bit silly.
Before I would have thought of the iPhone 5C to be the star of the show and the 5S to be a mere spec bump but it seems the tables have turned.
