I currently use a 3-year old iPhone 3GS. Although still a phenomenal phone, iOS 6 happens to be a bit too hot for the 600MHz processor to handle. I’m quite sure I need a new one but between the out-of-budget iPhone 5 and unavailable Nexus 4 I can’t seem to decide which one to get.
Yes I could buy the millions of mid-range Android phones out there but they have one major problem which I cannot tolerate - skinning.
Also the Rs.26,500 iPhone 4 is a good option but in a year it will become just another outdated iPhone, in other words what my 3GS is right now.
Cue cheap-iPhone rumours.
Hai! A cheap iPhone would be a perfect buy for me. The price would be something my wallet can handle and I’ll feel right at home with iOS. Note, I do not love iOS per say but I can’t imagine living without my favourite apps.
Cue Google X Phone rumours.
A kick-ass device by Google and Motorola with amazing battery life and killer specs! Hmm… Now that complicates things. The price of this device would be irresistible (as is the case with Nexus devices) and so will be the inclusion of stock Android along with the promise of lotsa updates. But Motorola has pulled out of India so I have no clue as to how Google will launch the phone in the subcontinent.
So we’re back to square one. Pricey iPhone 5 or unreachable X Phone.
